Giving a Human Face to Human Rights
Human rights are ultimately about people. Behind every report, policy recommendation, advocacy initiative, and legal decision are individuals, families, and communities whose lives have been shaped by injustice, resilience, and the pursuit of dignity. Cases & Voices is the Confederation for Democracy and Human Rights (CDDH)'s dedicated platform for documenting emblematic human rights cases, preserving lived experiences, and amplifying the voices of those directly affected by human rights violations. It serves as a trusted space where credible documentation, survivor-centred storytelling, and evidence-based advocacy come together to strengthen accountability, preserve historical memory, and promote meaningful change. More than a collection of testimonies or documented cases, Cases & Voices reflects CDDH's commitment to ensuring that human experiences remain at the centre of human rights action. By connecting personal stories with rigorous documentation and international advocacy, we transform individual experiences into knowledge, awareness, policy engagement, and collective action.
Cases & Voices
Every case strengthens accountability.
Every testimony preserves memory.
Every voice contributes to justice.
Our Vision
We envision a world where every person affected by human rights violations is recognised with dignity, every testimony is valued as a contribution to truth, and every documented case helps strengthen accountability, justice, democratic governance, and respect for fundamental human rights.
Our Mission
Cases & Voices seeks to:
- Document emblematic human rights cases with professionalism, independence, and integrity.
- Amplify the voices of victims, survivors, families, and communities affected by human rights violations.
- Preserve historical memory through ethical and survivor-centred documentation.
- Strengthen evidence-based national, regional, and international advocacy.
- Promote public understanding of the human impact of injustice.
- Support accountability, institutional reform, and the prevention of future violations.
Why Cases & Voices Matters
Human rights advocacy must never lose sight of the people it exists to protect.
Statistics, legal analyses, and policy recommendations are essential, but they cannot fully convey the lived realities of those who experience arbitrary detention, torture, enforced disappearance, political persecution, forced displacement, restrictions on civic freedoms, or other human rights violations. By documenting individual experiences alongside verified evidence, Cases & Voices brings human dignity to the forefront of advocacy. It helps transform isolated experiences into documented evidence, strengthens institutional responses, supports public awareness, and contributes to a deeper understanding of both individual suffering and systemic human rights challenges. In doing so, CDDH reinforces the principle that every person has the right to be heard, every experience deserves recognition, and every story can contribute to meaningful and lasting change.
