ADVOCACY & INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENT

Influencing Policies. Advancing Human Rights. Driving Global Change.

The Advocacy & International Engagement Division serves as the global voice of the Confederation for Democracy and Human Rights (CDDH). It transforms evidence, legal expertise, research, and the lived experiences of victims into strategic action that influences decision-makers, strengthens international accountability, advances democratic governance, and promotes lasting human rights reforms. CDDH recognises that documenting violations is only the first step. Lasting change requires sustained engagement with governments, parliaments, regional and international organisations, judicial bodies, diplomatic missions, development partners, civil society networks, academic institutions, and other actors capable of shaping laws, policies, and institutional practices.

Through coordinated advocacy and international engagement, CDDH works to ensure that human rights concerns remain at the centre of political dialogue, public policy, and international cooperation. The Division promotes evidence-based advocacy at the national, regional, and international levels, engaging with the United Nations, the African Union, ECOWAS, the European Union, the United States, diplomatic missions, international financial and development institutions where relevant, parliamentary bodies, international courts and accountability mechanisms, philanthropic foundations, think tanks, universities, and global civil society networks. By building constructive partnerships across these institutions, CDDH seeks to strengthen international solidarity, encourage policy reform, mobilise coordinated action, and reinforce respect for international human rights law. The Advocacy & International Engagement Division also provides the strategic framework through which CDDH advances legal action, strengthens engagement with international human rights mechanisms, develops high-level partnerships, coordinates global campaigns, and supports the implementation of international recommendations, judicial decisions, and accountability commitments. It ensures that the organisation's documentation, investigations, and policy analysis are translated into practical action capable of influencing decision-makers and producing measurable impact.

Guided by the principles of independence, credibility, professionalism, integrity, inclusiveness, collaboration, and respect for international law, the Division promotes constructive dialogue while remaining firmly committed to defending victims, challenging impunity, and advancing democratic values. Through strategic advocacy, legal expertise, diplomatic engagement, coalition-building, public mobilisation, and international cooperation, the Advocacy & International Engagement Division contributes to a world where evidence informs policy, diplomacy reinforces human rights, accountability drives institutional reform, and international solidarity strengthens the protection of human dignity, democracy, justice, and the rule of law.
